Great Britain Head Coach Nicci Wardell says she is proud of her side’s compete level in their opening game of the three-match Under-16 Women’s series against Norway in Widnes.

Thalia Davidson-Wright scored GB’s goal in an 8-1 defeat against one of the higher-ranked women’s teams in the IIHF rankings.

“We were pleased with the way the girls played today against a well-drilled Norway team,” said Wardell.

“The girls compete level didn’t drop throughout the game and they very much deserved to tie the third period and score their goal.

“We will regroup and go again tomorrow with the same energy.”

GB meet Norway again tomorrow in Widnes for the second game of the three-matches series (1pm face-off).
