Great Britain Under-16 Women held their latest camp at Ice Sheffield this week.

As well as the usual on-ice practice, there was also an important off-ice classroom-based session.

GB Women’s captain Saffron Allen, who is also a coach and mentor for the under-16 programme, talked about the Olympic Qualifiers in Nottingham last year.

GB narrowly missed out on reaching the final stage on goal difference, despite a final-day 1-0 shutout of Korea who are placed seven places higher in the IIHF world rankings.

Nicci Wardell, Head Coach, said: “It was a really good camp and the girls brought a lot of energy and positivity both on and off the ice.

“The girls have all gelled very well as a group since day one and the level of talent and competitiveness is improving camp on camp.

“It really is going to make our decision in choosing the team an extremely challenging one and we really want to thank each and every one of them for their efforts.”
