Head coach Cheryl Smith says she was impressed by this afternoon’s “very energetic” Great Britain Women’s camp at Ice Sheffield.

The team were put through their paces on and off the ice as they begin their preparations for next year’s World Championship in Spain.

GB have three more camps ahead of starting their campaign in the EIHA Under-20s Cup, where their first of six games is against Coventry in December.

“It was a very good session today and the coaching staff were very impressed with what they saw,” said Smith.

“It was upbeat, positive and very energetic and everyone took a lot from it.

“We have a great training schedule planned over the coming months and once again, the matches in the under-20s cup will be important.

“As ever, competition for players will be intense. We have a great group of experienced girls and they are being pushed hard by the young prospects in the programme.”

GB Women will play Spain, Mexico and DPR Korea, along with promoted Chinese Taipei and relegated Latvia in the World Championship Division II Group A next year.

The six-team tournament will be hosted in Spain from 29th March to 4rd April 2020.
