Ice Hockey UK Referee Section have announced the list of officials who have been nominated for Champions Hockey League (CHL) games this season as well as those who have received International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) licenses.

The CHL is Europe’s premier club competition, this year featuring Cardiff Devils and Nottingham Panthers from the UK’s Elite League.  UK involvment from #TeamStripes will feature four referees and six linesmen.

The UK sides are playing their first home games this evening, Thursday.  Tom Darnell is refereeing in Cardiff with Sam Motton and Matt Rose on the lines, while in Nottingham Liam Sewell dons the armbands with Andrew Dalton and Danny Beresford as linesmen.

In addition a total of 11 referees and 17 linesmen have received IIHF licenses for the 17/18 season.  For the 2018 World Championship calendar, the tournament allocations will be announced by IIHF at their congress in Spain at the end of September.

IHUK referee chief Joy Johnston said: “When it comes to our referees getting assignments on the international stage, the UK traditionally punches well above its weight in terms of representation.

“We are proud of all of our officials nominated for CHL games and IIHF licenses and wish them well in their matches as they are allocated.”
