Scottish U20 champions Fife Falcons reached the IHUK U20 National Final for a second successive year, defeating Kingston Sharks 8-2 in the first semi final.
Playing at Dumfries Ice Bowl, Fife made a fast start and took the lead at 2.20 through Chad Smith.
Scott Jamieson doubled the lead at 7.04 before Kingston got one back through Brady Doxey (17.10).
Fife restored their two-goal lead inside a minute, Martyn Simpson netting their third at 18.04 and Fife were 3-1 to the good at the first break.
The middle session was dominated by the Kirkcaldy side, netting four without reply.
Garry Simpson began the goal rush at 24.57, but Kingston held out until the 37th minute before Jamie Crawford made it 5-1.
Aaron Robertson bagged a powerplay goal at 37.52, while Garry Simpson netted his second of the period 20 seconds from the hooter.
Period three saw the teams being well matched until Fife scored their eighth through Caly Robertson at 49.52. Kingston had the final scoring word, Charles Blissett finding the twine at 57.41.
Fife’s win puts them into Sunday’s final (3pm) where they will face either Coventry Blaze, the EIHA champions, or Aberdeen Lynx.
Falcons head coach Scott Plews said: “We’ve played all year for this semi final, we’re delighted to be playing again tomorrow.
“Our club supported us by coming down on Friday and staying overnight. We benefitted with a fast start today.
“Kingston battled back and scored their goal, but that spurred us on again.
“We are ready for Sunday’s final regardless who we play. The core of this side were in the final last year, they know how to prepare – pre-game meals, meetings, rest. It’s an advantage for sure.
“Neither Coventry nor Aberdeen have had that experience, they’re coming in cold.”
