Great Britain stayed in the hunt for a medal the men’s Under-18 World Championship Division II Group A with a convincing 9-2 victory over Romania.

Brynley Capps did well to set-up Jack Clarke for GB’s opening goal (10:19), but Romania hit back 21 seconds later as Botond Suveg netted at the backdoor following a turnover (10:40).

Strong play from Clarke on the boards created the chance for Capps to score from close-range (14:39) and a great feed from Kyle Carruth set-up Max Maslak for a one-timer from the right-circle (18:21).

Carruth and Owen Bruton combined to force a turnover and a two-on-one with the latter scoring GB’s fourth at the backdoor (23:52).

This saw a change in the Romania goal with Calin Mardale replacing Balint Mark

Joe Tomalin and Rhys Edwards combined to set-up Jordan O’Brien (35:29) and O’Brien scored a fine solo goal for his second of the afternoon early in the third period (41:57).

David Fodor scored Romania’s second as he netted from the slot on his backhand on the powerplay (51:20), before GB grabbed a seventh as Clarke’s shot from the left-circle deflected past Mardale (53:27).

Josh Crawley scored from close-range (56:45) and Capps competed the comprehensive victory as he cut inside from the right to net his second of the afternoon (58:16).
