Jim Paterson has been named as General Manager for the Great Britain junior and women’s programme.
He will oversee the team managers in the GB men’s junior set-up (U20s, U18s and U16s), as well as the managers of GB Women, GB U18 Women and GB U16 Women.
Paterson has been part of the SIH board as Junior Chair since September 2019 and is currently responsible for covid measures within the sport in Scotland.
“I am thrilled to be appointed to the Great Britain role and it’s an honour to work at this level,” Paterson said.
“I’m really looking forward to getting started and meeting the managers and coaches within the programme.”
Paterson helped form Lanarkshire Lightning Ice Hockey Club in Scotland. What started as eight young people who wanted to play the sport but had no opportunity has become a club going from strength with over 100 members and trophy winners.
“During the development of the club my role has been to enable the people with specific hockey knowledge to do their thing and get the most for the kids,” said Paterson,
“We have always looked at new and modern methods to get the best results for our teams.
“For me, its been a journey that started with eight youngsters that wanted to play the sport and now to the very highest level of the sport in GB – and I’ve enjoyed that journey.”
Great Britain Programme Board Chair, David Hand, said: “I am delighted to be appointing Jim to the management team for the women’s and junior set-up.
“I have arranged a conference call this evening where Jim will be introduced to the GB managers. He’s a perfect fit for this role and his experience within the sport will be a great asset to the GB programme.
