Matthew Myers says Great Britain have made a great start to their Division 1 Group B tournament, but need to play a full sixty minute game against Lithuania tonight (7.30pm).

“We’ve won two games which is what you want to be in with a chance of winning the tournament,” said the Cardiff Devils centreman.

“We didn’t play our best hockey in both middle periods so we need to address that and come out in all three periods against Lithuania with the intensity we showed in the third against Estonia.

“They’ve had a good start and it will be a test for us, but we will be a test for them.  It will be a good game to play and to watch and if we play the right way, the way we know we can play, then we can come out on top.”

Myers has been on top form in the faceoff circle, winning 75% of the draws so far, as well as chipping in with two assists in the win over Estonia.

“We’ve played a lot better in the third periods and started to get some offence going.  Personally I don’t care if I don’t get another point or win another faceoff as long as the teams wins the gold medal.

“If everyone chips in and does their job then we’ll be just fine, and I am looking forward to being part of that.”

Great Britain’s third game of the week against Lithuania is at 7.30pm in SSE Arena, Belfast. TV coverage is available from Premier Sports, while there is radio coverage on BBC Sport website and Five Live Sports Extra.
