Milique Martelly has replaced Logan Neilson in the Great Britain squad for this month’s IIHF Under-20 World Championship Division II Group A in Kaunas.

GB will face hosts Lithuania, along with Croatia, Netherlands, Romania and Spain, in the six-team group.

The tournament runs from 11th to 17th December and is being held at the Kaunas Ice Palace.

Head Coach, Martin Grubb, said: “Obviously, we are disappointed to lose Logan but we understand his situation.

“Millique was desperately unlucky not to make the original roster and we have been monitoring him with MK.

“We are delighted to be able to bring him in. He skates really well, handles the puck well and now gives us four blocks of D.

“We are sure he will make an impact in this tournament.”

Neilson said: “Firstly, it’s obviously a huge honour and privilege to represent your country and I haven’t taken this decision lightly.

“But for my career right now and where I want to be in the future, I think it’s best for me if I continue to stay in North America and play over here.

“Playing for Great Britain last year was one of the highlights of my career. I had such a great time with the guys and it’s a memory I’ll have for the rest of my life.

“I have no doubt that the team will have a successful tournament and I wish them all the best.”
