British forward Ciaran Long scored the game-winning goal as Manchester Storm beat Sheffield Steelers 3-2 in the Elite Series at the National Ice Centre.

Maxime Fortier put the Storm ahead at 9:22 before GB international Robert Dowd assisted on Sheffield’s equaliser, scored by Josef Mikyska on the powerplay (31:54).

Powerplay goals from Andreas Klavestad (53:29) and Long (57:04) put Manchester in the ascendancy, while Kevin Schulze’s goal at 59:03 – assisted by Brendan Connolly – was just a consolation.

Four teams – Coventry Blaze, Manchester Storm, Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers – are competing in the 2021 Elite Series at the National Ice Centre.
