Milton Keynes Lightning forwards Lewis Hook and Jordan Cownie are relishing the prospect of being part of Great Britain Men’s training camp this week.

GB begin their week-long camp in Coventry today (Wednesday) as part of their preparations for the World Championship (Divison 1B) in Zagreb.

Pete Russell’s side will play two games against Poland this weekend, with Saturday’s match at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham (7:30pm) being followed by the two sides going head-to-head in the Skydome in Coventry on Sunday (5:15pm).

Hook said: “It is fantastic to be part of the squad and I cannot wait to get out on the ice.

“I know there is a lot of talent in this squad, so it will be difficult to get into the final 23, but I would love to be on the plane to Croatia.

“I am looking forward to the games against Poland. They are a great hockey nation and they should be two tremendous games.”

Cownie said: “It should be a good week and I am looking forward to the camp and to the Poland games.

“It is a great honour to be called up to the men’s squad and I know I will take so much from the next week.

“Like Lewis, I think it would be amazing to be part of the final 23 but I know how hard that will be as we have a very talented 28-man squad at the moment.”
