Ice Hockey UK chairman Richard Grieveson says the response from the EIHA members on his proposal for one governing body was “fantastic”.

The IHUK chief attended the EIHA’s AGM in Nottingham on Saturday and spoke for 45 minutes about his vision, as well as answering questions from the floor.

Since starting in his role in February, Grieveson has been in constant consultation with the EIHA board, as well the SIHA in Scotland, and also directors of the Elite League and English Premier League.

“The response I had was very encouraging,” said Grieveson. “I think this is the beginning of something very special.

“We need to develop proposals in a consultative way, to engage with stakeholders and to be open and transparent.

“There is still a long way to go but to see the support for this proposal in the room was fantastic.

“The key to this is the members, the people at the heart of British ice hockey.

“If they back the change, then I will push forward the plans for one governing body.

“What we have at the moment is broken and I think most people accept that, but we can move forward together.”
