Belfast Giants came so close to becoming the second UK side to win the Continental Cup, but lost on sudden death penalty shots to Arlan Kokshetau at the SSE Arena.
The Giants were 2-0 with 13 minutes remaining but tied the game at 2-2 and after no goals in overtime, Yevgeni Gasnikov scored the winning penalty shot.
Belfast take the silver medal from the IIHF competition.
