Great Britain Women continued their planning for next year’s World Championship by taking part in the EIHA 2018 Winter Classic at Ice Sheffield.

Head coach Cheryl Smith said the games were “great preparation” for next year’s Division II Group A tournament on home ice in Dumfries.

GB iced a mixture of experienced and young players on their roster as they played four group games against Conference Under-15 sides.

They began with a narrow 1-0 defeat by the Midlands Conference on Saturday night.

This was followed by three games today (Sunday), which began with a 1-1 draw against the South West with Kim Lane on target.

Louise Adams and Beth Scoon scored in a 2-1 victory against North Conference, before GB were beaten 1-0 by South East in their final game.

Cheryl Smith said: “We would have liked to have won more games, but results weren’t important over the last two days.

“It was great to get the girls together again in a game situation and this can only benefit us ahead of Dumfries next year.

“Thank you to the EIHA for making this happen. This tournament and the games in the U20 Cup are a vital part of our preparations for the World Championship.”
