Great Britain Under-18 Women’s Head Coach Angela Taylor has selected her captaincy team for the upcoming World Championship in Turkey.

The nine-team Division II tournament takes place on the dual ice pad at the Zeytinburnu Ice Rink in Istanbul from 27th June to 5th July.

Chamonix Jackson has been named as captain with Ellie Wallace and Ellin Rees appointed assistant captains.

Taylor said: “Cham has had a standout season both domestically and at the junior and senior international level. The players, coaches and I have full faith in Cham to continue to do a great job leading this group.

“Ellie has been a key player on this team for a while. This season has seen her gain senior women’s experience with the Queen Bees where she has flourished both on and off the ice. She will be a great addition to the captaincy team.

“Ellin is a young defender who has had outstanding success this year at the junior level, playing a huge role in Swindon’s journey to the Mixed U16 National Final and being selected for the U17 Southwest Showcase All Stars. She’ll be under the wing of two veterans who will help her carry on the legacy into future tournaments.”

The team underwent a two-day camp in Ice Sheffield last weekend with on and off-ice sessions.

“The coaches and I were really impressed by the hard work both on the ice and in the classroom at the camp,” continued Taylor.

“We’ve got a talented group of girls here and, more importantly, they are all competitive, mature, focussed and willing to learn.

“As a result, we got a lot covered over the two days and we are looking forward to the camp in a couple of weeks’ time in Nottingham.”

Meanwhile, forward Abi Minter has been added to the reserve list for this month’s World Championship.

“Abi has had a very strong season and performance at this camp,” said Taylor.

“She’s shown maturity and picks things up quickly. That coupled with her size and skill level, we’re excited to have her on the list to call up if required.”
