Great Britain are through to the semi-finals of the under-16 men’s Riga Hockey Cup after picking-up seven points on day two of the competition to secure second place in the group.

It means they will face Stockholm Golden Wings in tomorrow’s semi-final.

GB won two, drew one and lost one of their four games today.

Great Britain began day two with a 3-1 defeat by Jelgavas LSS.

Ethan Lock gave GB an early lead (2:50) but Jelgavas hit back with three first-period goals.

Artis Duklavs (7:30), Arvis Kulbergs (8:32) and Bruno Vimba (14:45) were all on target as GB slipped to their first defeat of the tournament.

Team EESTI 2-6 Great Britain
Great Britain bounced back from their early-morning defeat to secure a 6-2 victory over Team EESTI.

Ricards Misins scored twice in the first period at 09:02 and 14:55 for GB, with Timofei Stepanov’s goal for Team EESTI sandwiched in-between (13:50).

After a scoreless second period, Misins completed his hat-trick at 31:42 on the powerplay.

Dylan Worthy (35:26) and Sean Reynolds (36:49) scored goals just over a minute apart to put GB in total control.

Kirill Tabunov (40:37) reduced the arrears before Alex Rusby (42:25) put the seal on GB’s win.

Great Britain 6-1 Baltu Vilki
Great Britain thumped Baltu Vilki 6-1 in their third game of the day at the Riga Hockey Cup.

Daragh Spawforth (1:58), Sean Reynolds (12:24) and Theo Malone (14:37) scored first-period goals to give GB a commanding lead.

Ricards Misins continued his goalscoring spree (15:57) and Harry Vant (24:29) scored GB’s fifth.

Ričards Viljams Viļums (28:05) reduced the arrears before Spawforth completed the scoring with his second of the game (43:53).

HS Falcons 1-1 Great Britain
Great Britain completed the group stage with a 1-1 draw with HS Falcons which secured their place in the semi-finals.

Toms Vavilovs put Falcons ahead on the powerplay (2:34), before GB levelled through Daniel Harrison (6:18).

There were no goals in the second or third period as GB finished on 13 points in Group B and a spot in the final four tomorrow.
