Retired forward Paul Adey was presented with two special Great Britain caps at the team’s hotel in Tampere this evening.

Adey – along with Aaron Murphy – is a broadcaster at the World Championship for FreeSports, with GB beginning their tournament on Saturday against Czech Republic.

He made his debut in 1995 and to commemorate that, Adey was presented with a cap to acknowledge him being the 296th player to represent GB.

Adey went to make 55 appearances between 1995 and 2001, scoring 28 goals and contributing 24 assists for 52 points – and was also presented with a cap to acknowledge reaching 50 appearances.

Ice Hockey UK General Secretary Andy French was on hand to make the presentation.

Adey said: “What a special moment and a big thank you to both Andy Buxton and Andy French when they presented me with two team GB caps.

“I’m extremely grateful and would like to thank the GB team for rewarding me with both honours.”
