It’s game three for Great Britain this afternoon as they face Poland in the World Championship Division 1 Group A in Budapest.

GB have won one and lost one of their opening two games with a 3-1 victory over Slovenia being followed by a 6-1 defeat by Kazakhstan.

Poland are the fourth seed in the tournament and are ranked 20th in the world, compared to GB’s world ranking of 24.

The Poles were promoted to the second tier back in 2014 after their gold medal in Lithuania and have remained at this level ever since.

Bronze medals in 2015 and 2016 was followed by a fourth-placed finish last year.

Britain and Poland have met six times since 2005 in the World Championship, with both sides winning three each.

But GB have the upper hand in the more recent meetings, including a 4-2 victory in Vilnius in 2014 when Colin Shields bagged a hat-trick.
