We are excited to announce that if you can’t get to Nottingham this week, Great Britain Women’s matches at the Olympic Qualifiers at the National Ice Centre will be shown exclusively live on FreeSports.
The four-team tournament – being held at the National Ice Centre – involves GB, Iceland, Korea and Slovenia and takes place from 7th to 10th October 2021.
The group winners will qualify for November’s Final Qualification tournament for next year’s Winter Olympics in China.
This week’s live coverage continues FreeSports’ commitment to covering GB Women at major international tournaments.
The 2019 World Championship in Dumfries – the women’s last tournament before the pandemic forced two successive World Championship postponements – was also shown live on FreeSports.
Ice Hockey UK General Secretary, Andy French, said: “We are thrilled to be linking-up again with FreeSports as our broadcast partner for the Olympic Qualifiers.
“FreeSports are a massive support of Great Britain ice hockey at all levels and we thank them for their fantastic backing.
“This tournament is a massive moment for women’s ice hockey in the UK and it’s fantastic it will be showcased live on FreeSports.”
Richard Webb, COO of FreeSports, said: “We’re delighted to once again broadcast and support the Great Britain Women’s ice hockey team as they aim to qualify for the Final Qualification tournament in November.
“The coverage adds to our support of British ice hockey as we have recently began broadcasting and sponsoring the Premier Sports Elite League.”
Commentary will come from five-time Olympic play-by-play broadcaster Aaron Murphy and former GB player Paul Adey.
FreeSports is available free on Sky Channel 422, Virgin Media Channel 553, on Channel 64 on Freeview and BT and online via the FreeSports Player at www.freesportsplayer.tv.
Please note: Thursday’s game between GB and Iceland will face-off 15 minutes later than originally scheduled to avoid a clash with live cricket.
