Great Britain forward Ollie Betteridge scored his second goal of the Elite Series as Nottingham Panthers beat Manchester Storm 4-3 at the National Ice Centre.
Betteridge danced into the offensive zone and produced a sweet individual finish (5:51), while Nick Dineen fired in Nottingham’s second on the powerplay (17:43).
GB international Brett Perlini fed Kevin Domingue (22:52), before Jacob Lundell Noer’s five-on-three powerplay goal reduced Manchester’s deficit to two (38:10).
Perlini again set-up Domingue for his sixth goal of the tournament – and second of the night – at 43:06, but a three-on-one break on the powerplay saw Ciaran Long and Scott Simmonds combine for Cameron Critchlow’s first goal of the Elite Series (48:23).
Scott Simmonds scored on the rebound (52:45) but Nottingham held on for their third victory in four matches.
Four teams – Coventry Blaze, Manchester Storm, Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers – are competing in the 2021 Elite Series at the National Ice Centre.
The event has been organised under the government’s Elite Sport Guidance, with regular testing and a full covid-19 protocol in place.
The tournament is forming part of Great Britain’s preparations for the upcoming World Championship in Latvia.
