Mich Stevenson OBE DL is stepping down as chairman of the National Ice Centre and Motorpoint Arena Nottingham.

Ice Hockey UK would like to send their congratulations to Mich on successful career at the helm of the venue since it opened in 2000.

Andy French, General Secretary of IHUK, said: “I have known Mich and his family for a long time.

“On behalf of Ice Hockey UK I would like to send our congratulations on a fantastic tenure at the fabulous venue in Nottingham.

“Mich has been a great supporter of Great Britain ice hockey and Ice Hockey UK. He was always keen to get involved whenever we held games or tournaments in Nottingham. Good luck in the future Mich.”

In the late 1990s, he was invited by Nottingham City Council to oversee the transformation of the much-loved Nottingham Ice Stadium into an international-standard ice sports and entertainment venue.

Since then, it has played host to dozens of GB matches including men’s and women’s Olympic Qualifying tournaments, as well as the Elite League’s playoff finals weekend and the home of Nottingham Panthers.

Stevenson said: “I would like to thank my fellow directors, chief executive and every National Ice Centre and Motorpoint Arena Nottingham employee, past and present for their unwavering support, loyalty and kindness.

“I wish Nottingham Ice Centre Limited’s talented and committed executive team every success in its future.”
