The Great Britain Women University team meet at Ice Sheffield for their first training session tomorrow ahead of the 28th Winter Universiade, being held in Almanty, Kazakhstan.

The Winter Universiade is a multi-sport winter event which sees student athletes from all over the world compete in 10 events.

GB will take on some of the leading ice hockey nations in the world from 29th January to 8th February 2017.

Coach, James Ashton, said: “After successful trial dates earlier in the year, a number of players have been selected for a squad training session from where the team will be selected.

“There are players from the GB Women’s programme and also from within the EIHA and SIHA, supporting the fact that anyone who is good enough should be given the opportunity.

“We have had support from a number of organisations and individuals with manager, Ian Turner, working tirelessly to get all the off-ice work set up in preparation for this great event.”
