UK officials have been chosen to officiate at next year’s 28th Winter Universiade, being held in Almanty, Kazakhstan.

The Winter Universiade is a multi-sport winter event which sees student athletes from all over the world compete in 10 events.

The tournament runs from 29th January to 8th February 2017.

EIHA head of development & training Joy Johnston will be the supervisor for the women’s event, while Lorna Beresford will be one of six lineswomen.

Meanwhile, Stefan Hogarth is a referee for the men’s event and Chris Wells will go to the tournament as a linesmen.

Ice Hockey UK referee-in-chief, Simon Kirkham, said: “Congratulations to all who have been selected to go to this tournament.

“It is a very prestigious tournament and I am sure it will be a fantastic trip for everyone involved.

“I know each official will get a lot from the tournament and get to meet top officials from across the world.”
