ICE HOCKEY UK UNDER-20 NATIONAL FINALS

SEMI-FINAL – SHEFFIELD SCIMITARS v SOLWAY SHARKS (7pm)

The second semi-final at IHUK’s U20s National Finals weekend sees Sheffield Scimitars and Solway Sharks go head-to-head.

Sheffield won the EIHA U20 Midlands division with 17 wins and one draw, scoring 214 goals in the process.

Solway were runners-up in Scotland with eight wins and four losses, scoring 93 goals.

Scimitars head coach, Heather McDermott, said: “It is a great honour for the players, parents and staff of the Sheffield Academy to be part of a new chapter in the history of British ice hockey.

“Well done to all the teams who have qualified. May the players’ talent be shown in the best light and the best team win.”

Solway Sharks U20s 2016Solway head coach, Jamie Thomson, said: “As coach of Solway Sharks U20s, I am very proud of my team.

“Qualifying here is a huge achievement for our team.

“Now we will go and enjoy every minute of it.”
