The curtain raiser to IHUK U20 Final saw Scotland u11 win 4-3 over an England Select u11 in an exciting game in Dumfries.

Backed by a lively crowd of families and friends, the players showed great skill and enthusiasm for three periods with the home side holding off an England third period comeback.

Cameron Wilkie opened the scoring for Scotland at 7.51, his shot sneaking in at the far post.  Joe Lynch’s unassisted marker at 12.33 made it 2-0 to Scotland at the end of the first period.

Aiden Dancer got England on the board at 19.56, and it was a tied game when Harry Exley netted from close range before the period ended.  The sides went to break at 2-2.

Scotland had their noses in front early in period three when Rowan Mills fired their third at 31.47.  Jack Adams’ solo breakaway moments later (33.16) restored the two goal cushion for the home side.

A big finish was in prospect when Noah Kaariainen scored a third at 42.24.  England pulled their goalie for the final 45 seconds but couldn’t force an equaliser, Scotland hanging on to win 4-3.

All players received a commemorative IHUK medal, and both sides posed for a group photo after the game.
