Teenager Jayden White has created his own clothing range to to help fund his hockey career.

The 13-year-old, who lives just outside Newcastle, plays for Whitley Bay Warriors Under-15s.

He has aspirations of attending the Swindon Ice Hockey School of Excellence to further his hockey career, but needs to raise thousands of pounds.

“I sat down with my Mum and talked about what I wanted to do next and I expressed an interest in going to the Swindon Swindon Ice Hockey School of Excellence.

“This would mean moving away from my home and living with a family recommended by the school. I would train every morning and evening before and after lessons – and play up to three matches a week at the highest level possible for my age group.

“The financial sacrifices my Mum has already made are substantial in a sport that is very expensive at the best of times.

“To ask her to help fund thousands more just to send me to this school was a huge ask but, as always, she was right behind me and although she wasn’t sure how she’d do it, she would do everything she could to make it happen.

“It was at this point I decided that I would help as much as I could, so I came up with the idea of designing, producing and selling my own clothing brand.

“It’s aimed at hockey sportspeople but also general fitness, with a style but the practicality of off-ice clothing.

“I have funded the idea myself through my own savings and help from family and friends. All profits will then go directly into finding my schooling in Swindon.”
