Great Britain Under-16 Women had a superb opening day in the two-day British Women’s Ice Hockey Friendship Tournament at Planet Ice Bristol.

Four wins and two draws saw them top the table with 10 points from six matches.

Alisha Potts scored GB’s goal in a 1-1 tie with Bristol Huskies in their opening game of the tournament.

This was followed by a 1-0 victory over Caledonia with Meeyah Forbes on target, while netminder Evelyn Brown secured a shutout.

Game three saw GB beat Slough Sirens 1-0 thanks to a goal from Sophie Games. Netminder Scarlett Richardson with the shutout against the Sirens.

Coventry Phoenix were beaten 3-0 in GB’s fourth game. Abi Minter scored twice and Sophie Games netted her second goal of the tournament, while Evelyn Brown grabbed her second shutout.

GB then beat Oxford Midnight Stars 3-0 with another shutout for Scarlett Richardson. Sophie Games scored her third goal in as many games, while Abi Minter and Phoebe Gregg were also on target.

The final game of day one was a 0-0 draw against Nottingham and a third shutout of the day for Evelyn Brown.

GB return to action today to complete the group stage, with the top four qualifying for the semi-finals.
