Two Great Britain junior camps took place this week as preparations continue for the international season.

GB Under-16s underwent a camp at the Bauer Arena at Ice Sheffield on Wednesday, while the under-18s took to the ice yesterday.

The day-long sessions involved on and off-ice training and gave both sets of coaches a great chance to run their eye over some of young prospects in the GB junior programme.

National development head coach, Tony Hand, said: “It was a fantastic couple of days and it was exciting to see some of our best young talent being put through their paces.

“The coaching staff were very impressed with what they saw and I felt the camps were full of energy and the players certainly impressed.

“We have a lot of good talent in the programme at the moment and camps like these are important as we look to the future.”

GB U18s head coach, Martin Grubb, said: “The camp went well and there are a lot of good players in the group, which can only be good for the selection process.

“The boys worked hard both on and off the ice and we are now looking forward to the December camp.

“Some tough decisions will have to be made, but that’s a good position to be in.”

GB U16s head coach, Steven Lynch, said: “I was very happy with the camp in Sheffield and the coaches took a lot from it.

“I saw a lot of positive stuff on the ice and everyone turned up with the right attitude.

“It was good to get this group of youngsters on the ice and I think everyone benefitted from the time spent at Ice Sheffield.”
