Great Britain Under-16s held a successful camp in Sheffield last week and will announce their squad tomorrow for December’s international tournament.

GB will be joined by Belgium U16s, Netherlands U16s and Spain U16s for the four-team tournament in Dumfries from Wednesday 28th to Friday 30th December 2016.

Last week’s camp consisted of on and off-ice sessions and was attended by IHUK’s national development head coach Tony Hand.

GB U16s head coach, Rob Wilkinson, said: “The camp went very well. Both players and staff had an enjoyable time.

“The coaching staff got to spend some time with Tony Hand and in return he explained what he wanted from us.

“As always, there are some very, very tough decisions to make in naming the squad which, from a coaching point of view, is a good position to be in.”

A total of 29 players attended the two-day camp at Ice Sheffield and as well being joined by Tony Hand, IHUK chairman Richard Grieveson and national talent identification officer Mark Beggs were also in attendance.

Manager, Shirley Bliss, added: “The camp went really well and it was very positive.

“We had a total of four sessions on ice and we had off-ice activities also, including the bleep test.

“From my point of view, the players worked hard on and off the ice.

“This group of players are extremely pleasant young men and are a credit to their country.”
