The UK’s representative in this season’s Champions Hockey League, Sheffield Steelers, were beaten 8-1 by Salzburg in their second game in this season’s competition.

Christoffer Bjorklund scored Sheffield’s only goal on the powerplay in the second period.

Two days earlier, the Steelers had run SHL side HV71 so close and were tied at 3-3, before eventually losing 5-3.

Captain Jonathan Phillips thanked the supporters who made the trip for Sheffield’s two-game European adventure.

“They were incredible,” said Phillips. “We are just sorry they didn’t have more to cheer tonight.”
