A message from the IIHF…

It has been seven weeks since the last game in an IIHF tournament took place. During the same period hockey from minor to pro has come to a halt in almost the entire world.

The hockey family is not on the ice but we stay united during this global health crisis. Many personalities from different countries and with different backgrounds have joined for this message:
National team players Alexander Ovechkin, Kacey Bellamy and Alevtina Shtaryova, Canada’s greatest legend Wayne Gretzky and defending world champion coach Jukka Jalonen have important messages for you from their homes. They are joined by IIHF President René Fasel, by referees Yevgeni Romasko, Robin Sir and Katarina Timglas (also an Olympic silver medallist with Sweden as a player) and from the IIHF Medical Committee Dr. Beat Villiger.

The videos can be found and shared on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and a Russian edition on VKontakte.

The COVID-19 pandemic is not over. We want to remind everyone to stay healthy, listen to the experts, protect others, and above all to stay positive during these difficult times. The hockey family is with you and wants you back healthy – on the ice, behind the bench, in the stands or wherever you enjoy our great sport.

With all the championship cancellations due to the pandemic also the next congress is postponed for the same reason but we hope to solve many questions in the upcoming weeks, including which of the cancelled events can be rescheduled at the same venues for 2021.

We will remain with you on our digital platforms during the times of cancelled championships as you may have seen during the period of the 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship. Much more is to come in the upcoming weeks with cool videos, stories, hockey history, interviews and engaging initiatives with prizes for you.
