Great Britain were beaten 4-0 by Spain in at the IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship Division II in Istanbul.

GB now face the Netherlands on Sunday and need a victory to stand a chance of playing for the gold medal and promotion.

Spain went ahead at 9:34 as Indira Bosch’s shot from the left-hand side took a deflection past Emma Nichols.

Gabriela Barange walked off the right boards and fed Bosch in the slot for her second goal less than three minutes later, again with the aid of a deflection (12:25).

Bridget O’Hare scored the only goal of the second period with 21 seconds remaining as she reacted first to a loose puck on the doorstep (39:39).

O’Hare scored her second of the night inside the final minute, firing into an empty net after GB had lifted Nichols for the extra skater (59:33).

GB against the Netherlands faces-off at 20:00 on Sunday (18:00 UK time).
