Scottish Ice Hockey have announced that the 2020-21 Scottish National League season will not be played.

A statement on the SIH website said they were “extremely sad” to make the announcement, but the covid-19 pandemic had presented the board with an “unprecedented set of challenges”.

SIH chairman, David Hand, said: “We feel that it is unlikely the restrictions will be lifted sufficiently to allow us to formulate plans to resume competitive action.

“Government compliance – along with the safety of our players, officials, staff and fans – is the driving factor behind this decision.”
