Amy Robery and Mirren Foy both secured a spot in the last four of the mixed country 3-on-3 ice hockey competition at the Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games, following a hard-fought last day of the preliminary round.

Robery’s Team Black will be seeded first going into t0day’s semi-final against Team Brown, following a record of six wins out of seven. Foy’s Team Blue go into the last four as the second seeds, despite only registering one win on the final day of the round robin, they will face Team Yellow in the semi-finals.    

Elsewhere, Abby Rowbotham’s Team Red managed to finish the preliminary round strongly, with back to back victories against Team Yellow (8-5) and table toppers Team Blue (5-4), while Jessie Taylor’s Team Green just missed out on a top four spot, finishing in fifth place overall.

Evan Nauth and Mack Stewart will be on opposing sides in the men’s semi-finals, as Nauth’s Team Brown and Stewart’s Team Red both booked their respective pathways through to the knockout stages of competition. Nauth and Stewart’s showdown will take place at 12:30 GMT, where one of them is guaranteed to take to the ice in Wednesday’s gold medal match.

Meanwhile, Carter Hamill’s Team Blue finished the competition without registering a victory, following further defeats to Team Brown and Team Red.
