Scotland Under-11 West took the bragging rights at Dumfries Ice Bowl with a 16-6 victory over Scotland Under-11 East.
The game – which is preceding this afternoon’s U20s National Final between Fife and Sheffield, had three 15-minute periods.
Scotland West took a two-goal lead with Dylan Murray (1:33) and Jack Black (3:45) on target.
The East replied with two Gary Kelly goals within 19 seconds of each other at 5:13 and 5:32.
Lachlan McMillan’s powerplay goal (9:30) put the West back ahead and Lewis Gibson made it 4-2 at 12:04.
Kelly completed his hat-trick at 13:20 to close the deficit to one at the first intermission.
Black netted his second goal for the West 21 seconds into the second period (15:21), before the East hit straight back through Jamie Carson (16:14).
Both sides changed their netminders midway through the period, as Matthew Reid replaced Harry Campbell for the West and Ryan Hay took over from Brook Jansen for the East.
Murray’s second goal of the game (23:12) put the West into a 6-4 lead, before Kyle Carruth (26:40) and Aiden Wilson (26:56) netted 16 seconds apart to make it 8-4.
Conner McNulty scored at 29:09 as the West extended their lead further, but Joe Lynch’s strike 25 seconds later (29:34) closed the gap to 9-5 for the East.
The West scored their 10th early in the third period (32:15) as Gibson netted his second goal of the game.
Four goals in two minutes saw Scotland West go 14-5 up as Jack Neil’s goal (33:45) was followed by Aiden Wilson (22:56).
Black’s hat-trick goal was timed at 34:40 and Murray completed his treble at 35:48.
Gibson netted his hat-trick for the West at 40:18 before Kian Selvlin scored the East’s sixth at 41:05.
Wilson’s second of the night (short-handed) for the West (44:17) rounded off the scoring.
