The schedule for the men’s 2018 World Championship Division 1 Group A in Budapest has been confirmed.

Great Britain won promotion from Division 1 Group B by winning gold in Belfast in April to reach the second tier for the first time since 2013.

The six-team IIHF tournament will be hosted in the Papp Laszlo Budapest Sportarena – the same venue in which GB played when they were last in Division 1 Group A.

GB will begin the tournament against Slovenia – who were relegated from the top flight – on Sunday 22nd April at 12:30pm local time.

Their second game will be against Kazakhstan with a 4pm face-off on Tuesday 24th April and they will then face old rivals Poland on Wednesday 25th April (4pm)

GB will go head-to-head with Italy – another nation relegated from the top tier – on Friday 27th April at 7:30pm and round the tournament off with a game against hosts Hungary at 7:30pm on Saturday 28th April.

The format will be slightly different to usual as there will be at least one tournament game per day for the duration of the event, rather than all six teams playing each other across five game days with two rest days.
