Great Britain captain Saffron Allen was presented with a special 50th cap before today’s game to commemorate the fabulous milestone.

Allen first appeared for the GB Women’s team in Caen, France in 2011 making her debut on April 4th against Denmark. She scored her first GB goal on April 9th 2011 against France.

She has been an integral part of the GB Women’s programme for the past decade, showing the heart of a lioness on the ice and off it – including battling back from serious back injury in China November 2012 and a broken leg ahead of the most recent World Championships in Dumfries 2019.

IHUK General Secretary Andy French sent his best wishes to the GB captain: “I’m sorry that I can’t be there to present this special cap in person.

“Fifty games is an incredible achievement, here’s to another 50 caps and hoping you lead your girls today to that big W.

“Congratulations!”

Everyone at Ice Hockey, Great Britain Ice Hockey and the hockey fans who follow the programme also send their congratulations to Saffron on her 50th cap.

Thanks to Mowbray Sports for producing our commemorative caps for this week.
