Head coach Pete Russell says a “fantastic opportunity” awaits Great Britain at next year’s World Championship in Slovakia.

GB will make their first return to world ice hockey’s top flight since 1994 next May following their dramatic promotion in April in Budapest.

The schedule for the 2019 World Championship was announced yesterday and GB start their Group A campaign against Germany, before facing Canada, Denmark, USA, Finland, Slovakia and France.

“It’s great to finally see our schedule,” said Russell who has led GB to back to back promotions.

“As I have said before it’s stuff dreams are made of. When I think about it I get tingles through my whole body.

“What a fantastic opportunity that awaits our country next April and May.

“Nothing changes for us and we will, as always, put our hearts and souls on the line for our great country. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain.”

The IIHF have confirmed that ticket pricing and structure will be announced in mid-September, with ticket sales beginning a few days later.
