Great Britain returned to training today after a day off the ice with the Michalovce community yesterday, which included a trip to school and a visit to the mayor’s office.

GB underwent a training session this morning and they were then joined by youngsters from the local Michalovce school club for some tuition they will never forget.

They were presented with a GB national-team jersey, which was signed by all the players.

Ice Hockey UK general secretary, Andy French, said: “This has been a special couple of days for the squad and for the local community.

“Yesterday’s events were fantastic and it was great to see so many smiling faces at the school in particular.

“Again today, the youngsters have really enjoyed the session on the ice with the team.

“This Great Britain team is a credit to the nation. They have really embedded themselves in the local community in the past few days and there are a lot of new GB supporters in Michalovce.

“Being in the top flight for the first time since 1994 is very special indeed and I think it is important we built links with the community in Slovakia.”
