Great Britain Women play their first game at the Women’s World Championship Division II Group A in Dumfries as they face Australia Women.

GB arrived in Dumfries on Saturday night and had a warm-up game with Solway Sharks Under-20s on Sunday.

Britain took full advantage of their training session yesterday and had a light skate this morning ahead of tonight’s 8pm encounter.

GB will be at full strength and captained by Saffron Allen, along her assistants as Jodie Bloom and Kim Lane, after the captaincy team was announced at last night’s team dinner.

Five GB players will make their debuts this evening, with Lucy Beal becoming the 129th player to be capped by GB Women, along with Aimee Headland (130), Chloe Headland (131), Susanna Pearson (132) and Stephanie Towns (133).

It’s the third year in a row that that Great Britain and Australia have met, with GB scoring five third-period goals last year to win 5-1 in Slovenia.

Since 2005, the teams have met five times in total with GB winning four games to Australia’s one.

The game is live on FreeSports with Aaron Murphy and Paul Adey.

FreeSports is available free on Sky Channel 422, Virgin Media Channel 553, on Channel 64 on Freeview and BT and on Freesat Channel 252.

The games will also be shown on a webcast, provided by 247.tv, which you can purchase by clicking here.
