LITHUANIA 8-0 NETHERLANDS

Lithuania joined Japan on six points from six at the top of the World Championship Division 1 Group B table with an 8-0 thrashing of Netherlands in Belfast.

First-period goals from Domantas Cypas (3:27) and Pijus Rulevicius (14:27) were just a sign of things to come.

Ugnius Cizas (30:45), Emilijus Krakauskas (34:48) and Edgar Rybakov (35:26) increased Lithuania’s lead to 5-0, which saw Fabian Schotel replace Sjoerd Idzenga in the Netherlands goal.

Darius Pliskauskas made it six at 36:08 and Aivaras Bendzius netted Lithuania’s seventh in the third period (42:35).

Paulius Gintautas (53:52) rounded off the scoring to complete a comprehensive victory.

The final game of day two sees GB play Estonia at 7:30pm.
