UK official Amy Lack had the honour of officiating at the recent top-level Under-18 Women’s World Championship in Japan.
Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Japan, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and USA took part in the eight-team IIHF tournament. .
Canada won the gold medal by beating USA in the final, with America taking home silver, while Finland beat Russia to win bronze.
Lack said: “I have previously been fortunate enough to officiate at a number of World Championship tournaments across the globe, but this was my first opportunity to work in the top division which was really exciting.
“There was eight teams playing in two rinks across two divisions with both group and final games, something I have not experienced at international level before.
“I officiated five games while I was there – two group games, a semi-final, quarter-final and relegation game, while wearing shirt number 60.
“It was an amazing experience going out to Japan and working games of such a high level, as well as getting to see some of the country.
“Meeting and working with girls from all over the world is one of my favourite parts of the tournament and I now have the pleasure of having some very good friends all over the world.”

“She fully deserved this opportunity to officiate at the top level of the under-18 women’s competition.”
