Great Britain Under-20s head coach Slava Koulikov says his side’s two warm-up games this week were vital in assessing line combinations and tactics ahead of the World Championship, which begins in Tallinn on Sunday.

GB beat Korea U20s 8-1 at the Tondiraba Ice Hall on Wednesday, before following that up with last night’s 6-3 victory over Spain U20s.

Britain will play both sides next week in the Division II Group A tournament at the same venue.

Koulikov said: “It was great for team moral to get the second win that followed on from Wednesday’s success over Korea.

“The guys did really well and responded to what the coaching staff have been implementing this week.

“The games were very useful. We were able to try different line combinations and it was a good chance to implement the tactics we want to use in the tournament.

“Training will now be important ahead of our first game at the weekend.”

GB will begin their tournament on Sunday against Lithuania and then play Korea on Monday.

After a rest day, Britain go head-to-head with Estonia on 16th January and then meet Romania on 17th January.

The second rest day follows before GB play their final match when they take on Spain on 19th January.

All of GB U20s’ World Championship games will be shown on free-to-air television in the UK on FreeSports.

FreeSports is available free on Sky Channel 422, Virgin Media Channel 553, on Channel 64 on Freeview and BT and on Freesat Channel 252.
