Ice Hockey UK chairman Richard Grieveson has been discussing the federation’s blueprint for the future.

The IHUK board met for a meeting this week and a number of subjects were discussed.

The board have agreed to appoint a salaried technical director to oversee the GB programme, in line with many other countries.

Grieveson told IHUK Radio, in association with McDonalds: “We are looking to professionalise the programme.

“The person – who will have the right credentials, experience and expertise – will ensure there is one philosophy and one style throughout the GB programme.

“We will target coach education and player development.

“It will provide a real focus on our coaches to deliver. It is a really exciting opportunity.

“The role won’t necessarily be constrained to the UK. We will be looking far and wide.

“We want the best person for the job, who is going to lead this programme, provide support to our coaches and managers – and really take us forward to the next level.”
