“However, we wanted to make sure that if we continued in partnership – as both sides were keen to do – we really did something special.

“We feel that bringing Canada to Nottingham is not only a fantastic reward for the fans and players that have been so close-knit over the past few years during our nation’s rise in the ice hockey ranks, but now affirms Great Britain’s place as a top tier nation.

“The fact that we can generate such interest levels from the best hockey countries in the world is testament to the work of all involved and we look forward to continuing to push the ceiling of ice hockey in the UK as part of our continued relationship.”

Andy French, general secretary for IHUK, said: “Ice Hockey UK are thrilled to have Lucas on-board for May’s game with Canada.

“Without their help none of this would have been possible. On behalf of Ice Hockey UK, I would like to thank Ross Toomey and Lucas for their support.

“Lucas began their sponsorship with IHUK and GB last year and they have been fantastic sponsorship partners. We look forward to working with them for many years to come.”
