Russell Huxted has been named as the new manager of Great Britain Under-18s.

He will work alongside under-20s manager Ian Turner this season in the under-18 role before taking up the position solo in 2020-21.

Huxted has management experience in the Invicta Dynamos junior programme and the Chelmsford Ice Hockey Academy.

He has recently been appointed as the chairperson of Streatham Youth Ice Hockey Club.

Chair of the GB Programme Board, David Hand, said: “On behalf of Ice Hockey UK, I would like to welcome Russell to the Great Britain set-up.

“Russell is well respected within the game and he is a great fit for the junior programme.

“He will be mentored by one of our most experienced managers Ian Turner in the next 12 months and I am sure he will be a valuable asset going forward for the under-18s.”

Huxted said: “I have always been passionate about being an ice hockey manager and to be the team manager of Great Britain Under-18s is a great honour.

“I am really looking forward to getting started at the upcoming camp in Sheffield and to be working alongside some of the most talented players and coaches in the country as we prepare for the World Championship in Estonia.

“I would like thank David Hand and Ice Hockey UK for allowing me this opportunity to be part of the GB program.”
