Team Manager Russell Huxted says the squad’s current depth will make reducing the roster size very difficult for the coaching staff as Great Britain Under-18s continue their preparations for next year’s World Championship.
The under-18s met for an intensive on-ice camp in Ice Sheffield yesterday and will gather again before Christmas, ahead of the coaches naming their final squad for the Division II Group A tournament in Tallinn.
GB will face hosts Estonia – as well as Lithuania, Romania, Korea and Serbia – from 3rd to 9th April 2022.
It will be the first time the under-18s have taken part in a World Championship since 2019 after the 2020 and 2021 editions were postponed because of the pandemic.
Team manager, Russell Huxted, said: “It was another great camp in Sheffield. We have some really good depth within this squad.
“It’s going to be a difficult for the coaches to make that final cut as we move on into December’s camp.
“The players are progressing really well and Sean (Easton) and the coaches are implementing systems into the training to get players prepared for the GB way.”
