Team GB, Ice Hockey UK and the National Ice Centre (NIC) in Nottingham teamed up on Saturday to offer the chance to spend a session playing the greatest sport on the planet.
Inspired by the achievements of Team GB athletes and the amazing efforts of local community heroes, I Am Team GB created the Nation’s Biggest Sports Day.
Hundreds of people turned out to take part in an ice hockey taster session, an off-ice skills challenge and a family skating session – all free of charge.
Ryan Rathbone, sports development officer at the NIC, said: “It was great to be able to work in partnership with Ice Hockey UK and Team GB to give people an opportunity to try ice hockey as part of a national event.
“We had a mix of ages trying hockey based activities for the first time.
“It was fantastic to see families getting competitive and having fun together.”
Attendees took part in a Hockey Master Challenge where participants got the opportunity to challenge to try all the skills of hockey becoming a hockey master.
There was free family skating session with a an ice hockey taster at one end. Participants got the opportunity to test out skating, puck control and shooting following a circuit.
