Jordan Hedley was awarded his debut Great Britain cap after the game with Czech Republic in Group A of the World Championship in Latvia.

Hedley served as back-up after Ben Bowns replaced Jackson Whistle, who had to leave the ice with cramp and dehydration on his second start of the tournament.

Hedley becomes the 423rd player to represent GB and was handed his cap in a special ceremony in the dressing room.

“I saw Whis (Jackson Whistle) come to the bench and Bownsy (Ben Bowns) get ready to go on,” said Hedley.

“Ross Venus said to me ‘go go go’, so I ran down from the stands to get my kit on as fast as I could.

“It was a great honour and I really wanted to get my cap, so it was very special.

“It was amazing to watch the speed of Czech from the bench for the final few minutes – it was a crazy experience.”
