Last week in Cologne, Tony Hand MBE received the Bibi Torriani Award from IIHF and was inducted into the International Hall of Fame.

As part of the ceremony, Hand received a special edition GB jersey – complete with ‘Hand’ and 9 on the back, with a special IIHF Hall of Fame patch on the front left chest.

There are only two of these jerseys produced for each HoF inductee. They receive one themselves, the other is auctioned off by the IIHF with proceeds donated to a charity of the inductee’s choice.

The JLMC and Conference are honoured and delighted that Tony Hand has named The Jack O’Donnell Foundation as his chosen charity for the auction proceeds.

Hand’s jersey is a blue Great Britain official IIHF game jersey, as shown in the picture where he is receiving his award from IIHF President Rene Fasel.

Details of the auction will be confirmed by IIHF very shortly and we will share the information here on the website and our social media channels.

JLMC Chair Jacqueline Pye said: “This is a fantastic gesture by Tony and we are extremely grateful for the donation. The Hall of Fame ceremony was a very special occasion for him, and richly deserved.

“For him to think of our charity when asked by IIHF is brilliant, and we look forward to the auction.”

The Jack O’Donnell Foundation is named after the former Oxford, Swindon, England and South West Conference player who died in 2010 aged just 15. The Foundation aims to give other children the inspiration and financial support that Jack received, so that they too can achieve their potential in the sport they love.

JLMC and Conference are raising funds all weekend through raffles, tombola, merchandise and unique donations such as this from a legend of the British game.
